Midleton Draw at Townspark
A.I.L. Div 3
Midleton 6
J.Holland 2 pens G.Jacob 2 Pens
For the second week in succession Midleton were involved in a drawn fixture as they continue to take points from each of the four A.I.L fixtures played to date.
On this occasion a draw was a fair result for both teams as they struggled to overcome the wet and windy conditions at Townspark.
Midleton started well and Co. Carlow were on the defensive as Midleton camped on their line. Eventually the pressure told and Midleton went ahead from Jason Holland. Penalty.
Co. Carlow subsequently came more in to the game and two penalties from out half Greg Jacob gave the visitors a 3 point advantage at halftime.
Gary Colbert and Philip Morris entered the fray as a result of injuries to both Brian Morris and Keith Cocking.
Michael Daly moved into the centre with Colbert taking over at full back where he showed his reliability in handling the many kicks sent in his direction by the Co. Carlow out half.
Philip Morris, coming back after injury, showed he has not lost any of his appetite for the game and was very effective around the field
Co. Carlow sensed the game was there for the taking and upped the tempo of their rucking and mauling and caused Midleton a lot of problems.
In the closing minutes Midleton worked their way down field and created a penalty opportunity for Jason Holland which he duly converted.
Midleton have a break next weekend before travelling to
